At the pier, anything can happen. You can encounter your water races, enjoy a little piece and quiet. Most humans try to stay away because of the stories that haunt the old pier, like the sirens and the kelpie, and sometimes a mermaid or two is mentioned. But for others, it provides an escape for human curiosity and a retreat for non-humans to enjoy the serene beauty of the ocean-- and to perhaps see some sea-friendly folk.

Groaning softly when sunlight hits her face through the small window to the rundown shack she resides in at the end of the pier, she rubs at her eyes, yawning as she sits up in her bed of tied together sheets filled with feathers. Standing, she brushes herself off, storm green irises almost clashing with her pale face, much like how a wave would a shore.
Walking out, she stretches her arms and looks around then walks to the edge of the structure and sits, bare feet nearly brushing the high tides of the water below, gaze searching for anything fisherman talk about in their stories, slowly relaxing, alone at the moment, no one comes here this early in the morn

Elias slept heavily in a curled up bundle hidden within the tall grass that lined the ocean. It was the only place he could sleep. Even as he dreamed, he could feel the haze of his high fade away, slowly pulling him from sleep. And the thing he would dive for once he was awake was the pills. He didn't want to remember those faces that he killed, and he sure as hell didn't want the human feeling of guilt and remorse.
He was a demon, something humans feared. He would be that image that they conjured up.
Quietly, he groaned, shifting positions as the pounding in his head started.

Hearing a groan on the breeze, Evalyn stiffens before she stands slowly, making her way towards where the noise came from. Finding a boy with white hair laying near some bushes, her green gray eyes waver a moment before she leans down and brushes her fingers across his cheek, testing to see if he's alive

Feeling something touch his cheek, his eyes flew open and his hand, swifter than a viper, lashed out and grabbed something slender and warm. He turned his head and his eyes flicked around, seeing nothing but everything at once before settling on the direction of the breathing he hears, though to an outsider, it looked as though he saw them clearly.
Lavender eyes grew guarded, the shadows evident underneath them and his brow heavy. "Who are you," he asked coldly, sleep still evident in his voice.

"Who are you,"
Shrieking when the boy's hand shoots out to grab her wrist, she looks at him when she speaks, eyes wide and on his, momentarily frightened by his tone "No one. I'm sorry! Please let go." She states quietly, wanting to retreat back to her makeshift home "Just... Go back to sleep. You looked peaceful. And, Uhm..." her face flushes, looks away

"No one. I'm sorry! Please let go. Just... Go back to sleep. You looked peaceful. And, Uhm..."
Brows lowering further into a small glare, Elias didn't let go. He began to grow more bitter at being awoken, and even more so as his haze wore off. His jaw worked before he roughly released the girl, sitting up.
"I can't go back to sleep after being woken up," he growled, running a hand over his face.

"I can't go back to sleep after being woken up,"
"Let go. Please?" Evalyn murmurs quietly, eyes flicking to his before she yelps when he releases her and she falls onto the ground, off balance. Gaze wavering, she flinches slightly at the growl. Jaw slowly hardening in resolve, she stands, brushes herself off, then pushes him towards the water, not really caring at the moment if he falls in or not. "Then do something else. Go swim. Jerk." she mutters, starts walking back up the bank

"Then do something else. Go swim. Jerk."
An inhuman growl escaped him as he stumbled from the shove, have just started to stand, and whirled towards the girl. In a blur, he moved towards her, though stopped suddenly as he lost balance, a heavy throb settling in on his temples. With another growl he dropped down in a criss-cross position, gripping his head tightly in a vain attempt to get rid of it.
Out of habit, his hand moved to his pocket and grabbed the bottle, though when he shook it, it was empty. He growled and grumbled again, throwing the bottle to the side and remained seated in the sand.

Stopping in her tracks at the sound of footsteps, she starts to turn slowly, whirling around to face him at the growl. Frowning when he drops, she hesitates then steps closer to him, anger flashing across her gaze at the sight of the bottle, sits in front of him silently "You're a druggie? Really?"

"You're a druggie? Really?"
"Why do you care?" he growled, closing his eyes and leaning forward, rubbing away the pain. "It's not like it's your life."

"Why do you care? It's not like it's your life."
"Because there are better things you could do with your life?" Evalyn murmurs, small exasperated sigh, reaches out and grasps his shoulder gently "Look at the pain you're in. I know it hurts like hell. Why do you put yourself through that?"

Elias jerked away from her, scrambling to his feet. His voice was almost like a hiss. "Don't touch me," he snapped, his hands running through his hair. "And it's none of your damned business." He was bristling by now, jaw working as he grit his teeth. Who the hell did this girl think she was?

"Don't touch me. And it's none of your damned business."
"Why?" Evalyn murmurs back just as quick, stormy eyes following his as he stands, does the same "You're right. It's not. But you made it my business when you fell asleep so close to my home. No one ever comes here, so why did you?"

"Why? You're right. It's not. But you made it my business when you fell asleep so close to my home. No one ever comes here, so why did you?"
The storm seemed to ebb from his features for a heartbeat, eyes opening and looking towards the ground as he listened. Quietly, almost inaudible through his mood swing, he murmured, "The ocean. It's the only thing that helps me sleep."
Then the storm came rushing back, and he growled quietly. "I didn't think someone actually lived nearby."
