"I don't know what you can do.
"I don't know myself." Admitting that he started to pull back, eyes downcast. How was he going to help her? Espescially if she didn't want him there?. Feeling his body move sideways he blinked rapidly trying to get a grasp on what just happened. At first he thought he upset her, but her words replayed in his mind. "I.. Watch out!" Getting to his feet, his eyes did a quick survey of the room. Though a cry brought him back to his senses-eyes landing on her. "Eva?" Teeth gritting he grabbed his knife from his belt loop before rushing towards the creature.

Amiras's call fell on deaf ears as Rourke found himself facing the cabin. His feet froze in their place, bombarded by a wave of memories he nearly forgot, eyes fogging up. How could he had stayed away so long? How could he have forgotten her face, their child's face, the warmth he once felt? He nearly stumbled, but snapped back to as he watched a shadow plow through the front door, brought back to the task at hand.
"No!" he roared, the wind raising in response as he stepped forward again, feathers once again taking over as he clamored over the sofa and turned into the bedroom.
He didn't pay any mind to the only human in the room as a sound left his beak, a sharp and shrill cry as he found the wraith and tackled it. The two creatures rolled into the wall, a mass of shadow and white. As the large bird scrambled to its feet, beak snapping at the wraith again, the night stand tumbled and sent the lamp to floor and shattered the glass. The bed moved a few inches as the two clashed again, Rourke determined to not let the wraith escape.

"No!"
Stilling at the sight of the cabin before her, Ammiras opens her mouth only to shut it at Rourke's outburst. Gaze flicking to him quickly, she grits her teeth when he disappears and looks to Dewey "Stay."
"Eva?"
Clutching at the wraiths fingers, Eva's breath starts to shorten before the wraith is suddenly drawn away. Hitting the ground her hand flies to her throat as she coughs, grey eyes flicking up to the figure that saved her. Gaze widening she tries to stand, gripping at Nik for support as she tries to find her voice-still winded "Nik. Help... Help... Him!"
Screeching as it's pulled away from Eva, the wraith fights against Rourke and tries to escape as the urge to flee takes precedence over the hunger

Blinking as something suddenly blocked his path he stilled. Analyze the situation- what was around him. Something had attacked Eva but now there was something else in the room. But the rage and bloodlust didn't seem to be towards him. Rushing to Eva's side he opened his mouth to ask her if she was alright. His words turned into a painful yell as a very shrill sound flooded his ears. Groaning he reached up hands covering her ears instinctively.
"Nik. Help... Help... Him!"
Eyes squeezing shut he struggled to hear her behind the ringing in his ears. Grunting he carefully lowered her to the ground before his gaze scouted out the ball of color. Feeling as if he was moving in slow motion he rushed towards the two figures, hands encircling the wraiths neck. Yelling as it tried to escape he put it in a body lock as best he could.

"Nik. Help...help him!
Rourke screeched back at the wraith as it screeched at him. His feathers ruffled as he tussled with the creature, snapping at it and fighting back. The two ended up separated in another barrage of attacks, where Rourke tumbled away and scrambled back to his feet, talons scrapping wood as he flapped his wings with another cry at it, body angled low and ready to leap.
But when it was subdued by Nik, he straightened slowly, wings returning to his sides as he raised his head, a bright green eye trained on the two in front of him. His chest rose and fell rapidly, very birdlike, as he struggled to catch a breath after the round with the wraith, who he glared at.
He knew he had no means to actually kill it-- even with his talons and beak, it would do nothing to something of its calibur, so he only waited, watching in case it struggled free from the man who held it now.

Walking to the door, Ammiras pauses at the sight before her-panic crossing her face briefly "Rourk-" stepping back quickly, she frowns as a blur runs by her
Pushing herself to her feet Evalyn sways a moment, gaze flicking to the bird before resolve fills her eyes and she turns, hand scrambling to find the blade she hid beneath the sheets. Fingers tightening around it, she grips it deftly as she runs to Nik and the wrath, irises turning white
Struggling against the human, the wraith screeches only to let out a dying wail as a knife inscribed with symbols drives itself into its throat
Legs shaking as the creature before her dissipates into nothing, Eva turns slowly to the bird, her hand black where she touched the wraith, irises turning to their normal stormy grey. Swallowing, she takes a small step forward, mouth opening and closing as she tries to find the words. Getting less than two steps from him she drops the knife, unmoving as it clatters to the floor "...Dad..dy?" she whispers quietly, unable to make sense of the memories and faces flitting across her mind as they return

Nik tightened his grip as tight as he could manage to hold still. It was instinct- He himself along with Rita had worked with too many cases where someone was the bait. The other person would finish off whatever they were fighting. Though usually they did recon before attacking.
Feeling his body shift from the impact, Nik's gaze traveled to the wraith. As a pitiful sound came from the creature, his hold slowly let up. Once it was gone he let out a sigh of relief, body straightening as his eyes darted around the room. It seemed another person had joined them-but she hadnt moved to attack so he took that as a win.
"...Dad..dy?"
Sharp eyes landed on her, concerned at her stature. Though when she moved forward on her own, a small but tense smile was shown. He couldn't hear what she had said but he had understood all the same. Putting his hands in his pockets he walked outside to give them space. Once there he leaned against the wall, eyes trailing to his arms. Or rather the darkness that covered his hands and parts of his arms.

Rourke regretted not having a sword at the moment the blade pierced body, the sound both wet and dry, sharp and shrill. He bowed his head and looked down, his wings loosening from their place at his sides. However, a heartbeat later his straightened again, eyes on the wraith with a sense of anger that quickly dissipated at the sound of the knife clattering.
"...Dad..dy?"
Head snapping to the girl, his beak clicked and he stepped forward, a brief bout of wind engulfing him in a flurry of feathers, with the next step being him emerging from the mass as himself. Arms quickly enveloped Eva, his hold every much as full as his chest while a few strands of his hair fell from the loose ponytail he wore. There was a moment of no movement, not even a breath, before it shuddered out with the smallest of laughs. "You've grown up so beautifully. Still took after your mother-- she was nearly as small as you."

At the girl's word, Ammiras exhales softly before she follows the other man outside-watching as Dewey sniffs him curiously "You know," she starts, leaning on a post as her gaze finds his hands "You should really let me clear that away for you."
"You've grown up so beautifully. Still took after your mother-- she was nearly as small as you."
Frozen in shock as the bird shifts into a familiar figure, Evalyn goes rigid at the embrace before his words reach her and life sparks in her gaze. Lips trembling as the images swirling in her brain finally slow, she grips his shirt tightly and runs her hands over his arms. As she discovers from her prodding that he's real and not a figment of her lonely imagination, her voice wavers as she finally speaks "You... Mom, she.." she starts until her voice cracks on her, broken sobs tearing their way out as her legs give out on her and she falls against him "Please don't leave me." she cries, face hiding itself in his chest as everything she's been bottling up escapes "I'm so scared. I know I shouldn't be, but I.." teeth gritting, she pulls her head up to look at him, normally grey irises now white with a black ring around them. Studying him, she takes in the details of his face before realization hits her and she shoves him away, gaze flicking to her black stained hand with horror

Nik blinked feeling something wet hit his hand. Two brown orbs directed their attention to the creatire, instinctively reaching out to pet it.
"You know, You should really let me clear that away for you."
Tensing, his hand stopped midair- just inches from the dogs fur. He had almost messed up just now, and the realization caused him to grit his teeth. Just what had come over him? He didn't think he liked animals. At the very least he had never blindly reached for one before. "Should I?" Straightening he faced her, eyebrow raised. "What reason do you have to help me? Besides I'm sure it'll fade eventually."
