His hands twisted and gently grasped hers, jaw working a moment as he leaned against one hand gently. "Promise me something," he murmured, eyes opening, though he doesn't quite look at her, staring at a point just below her chin and beyond her.

Finally he met her gaze, and for the first time, left his thoughts in the open to be read. Zlo struggled to get the words out at first, voice thick. "If my being around.... If I ever put you in harm's way, or things get too rough, get out. Whether it be because of me or anything else, get out." His voice wavered and was hardly above a whisper.
He didn't understand why he was so shook up, or why he had grown so sensitive over her after only a few times of them being together. But something was preying on his past, and he didn't want to live through it again.
Even if it meant showing the man he was before the change.

Stilling at his words, her eyes slowly widen as she opens her mouth, closes it, then laughs lowly, looking away from him, gaze growing distant before she shakes her head, looking back to him, small sigh, kisses him hard, grasping his face. Pulling back when she can't quite breath, she inhales softly, brushing her thumbs over his cheeks "Oh, Zlo. I won't promise that." she murmurs "Rather, I can't."

Zlo took a heavy breath and closed his eyes, resting his forehead against hers, arms wrapping around her waist gently, half forgetting that he still hadn't gotten dressed. His lips pursed as he inhaled, though the exhale was silent. "You have to," he murmured lowly, voice a low rumble.

Something snapped closed inside of his head, the emotions clamming themselves up again, and if the words stung, he didn't show it through the nearly soundless, breathless and humorless chuckle. "For your own safety," he murmured.
Gently, his kissed the edge of her hairline on her forehead before lifting her quietly from his lap and setting her on her feet, turning to the room to get dressed, his tail loosening from his waist and lowering behind him.

After he moves her, she inhales shakily before she turns and catches him around the waist from behind, face pressed to his shoulder "Don't. Don't leave. I... If it's meant for me to die, I don't want to die alone. And, if it's not, great.. But please.." she murmurs, tears of pain pooling in her eyes, starting to lose it

He doesn't respond to her comment, jaw ticking as he tried to keep it reined in again. Though when her arms snake around his waist, the skin on his back quivered a moment and grew rigid.
"Don't. Don't leave. I... If it's meant for me to die, I don't want to die alone. And, if it's not, great.. But please.."
Zlo remained still as a statue, hands frozen from where they were lifting his pants, though at the moisture that touched his skin, the muscles slowly relaxed. His eyes stared at the bed, past it, and he doesn't say a word for several heartbeats.
Don't go.
"I won't," he whispered, answering both her and a distant memory.

At the feeling of him tensing beneath her, she freezes and starts to mutter sorry, about to pull away, stills when he relaxes, breath held in, eyes wavering
"I won't,"
At his words she inhales sharply, tears escaping a moment, holds him tighter before she turns hurriedly, takes a step towards the door so he can change in peace, feeling like a fool as she wipes furiously at her face. Just as she reaches the frame, her expression twists with pain, leans against it with a hiss, eyes turning black along with the veins around them, curls in on herself a bit before she grits her teeth and pushes her way out, fighting to get to the kitchen, almost makes it then collapses silently
Groaning, she forces herself back to her feet and pulls out a glass, hands shaking as she tries to pour herself some wine. Raising the drink to her lips, she takes a sip then proceeds to retch the moment it touches her tongue, glass hitting the ground and breaking, hands gripping the edge of the sink tightly, hair falling into her face, hiding it.
Gaze flicking down the hall to where Zlo is, her eyes close a moment as she tries to think, sighing softly when she realizes he's probably heard her and about to come check out what's going on. Teeth gnashing together when another wave hits her, she clutches her stomach, grabbing her keys as she makes her way out quickly, swinging a leg over her bike when there, turns the ignition, shakes her head to try to concentrate, knowing she has mere moments before he catches up, kicks stand up, takes off

Zlo pulled on his shirt as she stepped out, then his pants, though when he heard the sound of retching and shattering glass, he tensed and turned around. "Shade?"
When there's no response, he walked out of the room and towards the kitchen, starting as she ran out the door. "Shade, Shade wait!" He darted towards the door and ran out and down the steps, stopping in the road as she dRove away. After a moment, he swore and ran inside, slipping on his boots and grabbed his leather jacket.
"Shit," he murmured as it dawned on him, and within a heartbeat, he was gone.

Hearing footsteps then his voice as she starts to pull away, she tenses, gaze shadowing "I can't.." she whispers, speeding, weaving her way around cars, grits teeth when a wave hits her, leans forward slightly, swerving quickly to avoid a truck when it comes out of no where

Zlo appeared within the compound, walking the rest of the way. He had put on his leather jacket, but left his shirt behind. Every few hundred feet, he'd stop as though he would go the other way, at war with himself. He didn't know what to do, as for the first time since his wife's death and the first time since his change, he could admit that he fell in love, and was afraid of losing it.
