Reaching the center, Kas stills there for a moment, exhaling before she flips backwards, going for her usual handstand. Hands brushing the rope, she starts to relax as her left hand starts to wrap around it before she wobbles, gaze widening as her grip fails her. Scrambling to grab anything, her face pales when the string slips through her fingers and she falls, dropping towards the ground headfirst, eyes squeezing shut

For a split moment Quan stills as he watches her take the flip, though the moment she slips his stomach drops. He darts forward, the crowd fading to the background as he remembers his promise to the ringmaster, and his eyes flash a moment. He leaps from shadows, wings slipping through the slits he put into his shirt himself and they beat once before slipping back in as he catches Kas, twisting and landing roughly. His foot slips a little, but his joints lock up, scales having shown along his neck and jaw.

Waiting for the pain of hitting the ground, Kas grunts when something suddenly rams into her from the side, breath knocked from her lungs as the wind stops whistling in her ears. Opening her eyes slowly, her gaze wavers as she takes in the sight of who's holding her, curled into his chest as they land "Quan?.." she asks, voice slipping as she notices his wings and scales "Wha.."

"Quan?.. Wha.."
He tucks his wings, a hand moving to the ground as his other arm keeps her close to him as he catches his balance, then slowly she sets him down. "Are you okay?" he asks quietly, the scales slowly receding beneath the collar of his outfit.

He slowly stands. "I'm fine. I'm a spotter-- I'm supposed to keep you from cracking open a skull." A small smile touches his lips, but it doesn't quite meet his eyes.
