Riad and Dozorce felt the air shudder, and Riad shied away from the house. His father reached out and gripped his shoulder. "He's going to need you when the change is complete. I'm going on in to catch that bastard before he tries to get away."
He paused, giving Riad a small shake. "You're my son, and you're stronger than you think. Be there for the boy." He kissed the top of Riad's head, the first fatherly gesture he had given since Riad was young, and stepped inside the home, while the young man stayed outside on the porch, jaw working in silence as he waited.

"What are you doing to me?" Carter gasps, clutching his chest when it feels like he can't breathe, falls to his knees, pressing his head to the floor, fists clenching as the pain grows unbearable, trembles

"You'd best insure he does," Dozorce said as he stepped to the hallway, pale eyes watching. "Riad won't be happy if he doesn't, and he by no means won't be happy with me after the fact." He made no move to run and pierce the barrier, unlike Riad or Zlo. Riad had remained on the porch, and hearing the comment tensed, turning towards the door.

Looking over at him, Lucifer tsks, releasing Carter's hand, steps to the edge of the barrier, slow smirk "You know it's not up to me, whether or not they survive. He has to make it through on his own, face his demons." he murmurs, red eyes flashing "And what are you doing here, Dozorce?"
Carter inhales sharply, gasping when the grip on him loosens, falls to the floor, blue eyes flashing between their original pale blue and a unnatural neon blue, jerks as wave after wave of pain hits him before it suddenly stops, looks up, frowning when he finds himself in a different room, unknowingly trapped in his mind, turns his head, screaming both mentally and aloud when he sees Rima. Or at least, how she looked when she died

He stepped forward, hardly flinching at Carter's screams. "I think you know why. I didn't think Elias's face would be hard to forget." Dozorce paused. "Why have you pulled him in?"

Riad heard the screams and flinched, gaze hardening as he took a breath and hurried inside, pausing as he saw his father and Lucifer, the Carter on the floor. His breath hitched, violet eyes flicking between the three of them.

Dozorce shrugged, looking at Riad as his son stared towards Carter, unmoving. "Hatred can be useful." Something in his voice caught Riad's attention and he looked at him. Zor gave a small jerk of his head, and Riad hurried towards Carter's side. "But using him to kill someone, bribing and lying to him, like you're always good at," he turned his attention back to Lucifer, "crawls under my skin." His pale eyes flashed white a moment.

"Oh? Since when do you agree with me?" Lucifer murmurs, lips twisting up in a smile, red eyes studying him, entertained "Using him to kill someone, yes. Bribing him? Guilty. But lying to him." he tsks "I haven't yet lied to him." he murmurs, smile fading, eyes narrowing "What is it you're really after?" he asks, going rigid not a moment later when a voice reaches his mind
"Hey. We need to talk."
"Well well, look who came crawling out of the shadows." he murmurs, lips twisting up before he glances towards Riad, bows mockingly "Something came up. Best of luck for him. If he lives, tell him I'll be back later to collect. Bye now." he murmurs, disappearing without another word

"Oh? Since when do you agree with me? Using him to kill someone, yes. Bribing him? Guilty. But lying to him. I haven't yet lied to him. What is it you're really after?"
"You, not lying? That's a huge surprise," he said nonchalantly, a dark and sharp smirk tugging at the corners of his lips. "And obviously for a debt to be repaid." Though it vanished as Lucifer's demeanor changed.
"Well well, look who came crawling out of the shadows. Something came up. Best of luck for him. If he lives, tell him I'll be back later to collect. Bye now."
"No!" He lurched forward, swearing as he vanished. "Damn it."
Riad sat criss cross by Carter, eyes trained on him, watching and alert. "You keep waiting too long," he murmured, violet eyes rising to his father's. "Just like Zlo. Why?"
Dozorce looked at him, gaze shifting just a little. "Don't worry about it."
Riad's jaw ticked, but he doesn't say another word as his focus trained again on Carter.

Riad frowned slightly, gaze growing worried as he studied Carter's face, hands working around themselves in his lap. "Come on, Carter....You can do it," he murmured.
Dozorce watched, jaw ticking as he sees Riad's mother in his posture, took a shaky breath and turned away, walking around the house.

"I don't want to!..." Carter whispers, voice cracking, slowly opens his eyes, tears filling them at the sight of her, no longer bloody, clean "Rima.."
Lips twisting up in a small smile, she hugs him tighter, then pulls away "I've missed you. But Carter." she hesitates, looking away a moment
"Rima?" he asks, confused, hand grips her shoulder
"This isn't the way to go." She murmurs, looking at him, smile gone "You aren't meant to be a demon."

Riad pursed his lips, shifting and drawing his knees up, arms around them as one hand loosely gripped his wrist. Behind him, he started at another voice.
"How is he?" Zlo asked as he walked inside, looking towards where Riad sat.
"He hasn't responded yet-- It'll take some time, you know that," Dozorce replied.

Frown crossing his face, his arms drop, small step back "What are you talking back? How am I meant to be anything? And why is it your call? It's my life. And I like him." he murmurs, conflicted
"A demon killed me. His brother, killed me. We're hunters, we hunt them, not love them." Rima states, gaze growing cold "And if you wish to turn into a demon I'll have to kill you. You'll look just like I did." she murmurs, illusion fading, image of her death reappearing, knife that killed her in her hand "You're going to accept what happened to me?"
Eyes widening, he springs back until he starts to feel as if he's falling, hands pulling at him "No! That's not what I meant!" he yells, struggling "Rima, please!"
"She can't help you now." a voice murmurs off to his left
Head thrashing, he looks over, tears filling his eyes when he sees him before he lets out a heartbroken scream, passing out
"I won't let you turn into the thing that killed your parents." she mutters, eyes closing at the sound of his pain, starts whispering under her breath before the sky goes red

The three started at the sound of Carter's scream. Riad jerked back several inches, a hand catching himself. His eyes were wide and his mouth worked a moment before he moved closer. "Carter?" his voice cracked a little, worry and fear written on his face.
"He's alive, son," Dozorce murmured with a sigh, but of relief or something else, it wasn't known. "Take him to one of the rooms and let him rest." He looked at Zlo. "Stay with him in case, okay?"
Zlo nodded, looking over as slowly Riad moved Carter, carrying him down the hall. "Nothing will happen to him, you have my word."
Dozorce watched him as well. "He's grown soft for a demon," he said lowly, keeping it from Riad's ears. "I don't want him to end up like me. I've already failed them both."
Zlo pursed his lips. "I think we've all grown soft, Dozorce."
