Hesitating, he looks away a moment before he starts firing off questions quietly "What's it like to become a demon? Does it hurt? And, does it sometimes fail? I mean, are there risks?" he murmurs, falling silent once he's done

Riad thought a moment, studying the wood of the railing. "I don't know what it's like. Elias and I-- we were both born with the demon inside of us, and over time it became second nature. The only other person that I know who had gone through the transformation is Zlo. It had happened before the demon side of me took hold. It was just a transition for me." He looked back at him. "As for risks, I'm sure there are ones, some that could be worse than others."

Dozorce turned, hands in his pockets, and looked at Riad and Carter. He noticed the relaxed muscles in Riad's brow, which hadn't been there before, and Carter's expression. "I see everything has been settled?"

Dozorce didn't say anything a moment, waving him to follow and walked over to a small round table and sat. Waiting until they follow and take a seat, he started, "It's not the most pleasant experience. Your inner demons, whatever they may be, come forward to take residence. For Zlo, that was anger, hatred, and that's why he's always in a sour mood. For me, it was my distrust and habit of leaving everything behind." His eyes flicked to Riad, who looked away. He sighed and continued. "My sons were born demonic, but they still have their devices. Elias with addiction, Riad with his compulsiveness. With those traits come numerous others, like lust, greed, belligerence, vanity. As long as you can recognize your inner demons and know that they may be what will rise once you change, you'll have a little more control over yourself."
He paused to let it sink in a little before he continued again. "As for the pain, it differs. Zlo's inner demons were strong enough that they drove the pain away and he never recognized it before he set out on his rampage. For me, it was the worst thing I would ever experience that would rival losing those I love. And the change never fails, only the will of the person can fail them, which is the largest risk. Losing your head in the middle of the change, forgetting who you are can cause the change to go astray, and you'll become the monster that no one wants to be."
At the last bit, Riad flinched, having remembered something attached to those words.
