Finishing her tea, Rune rinses out her mug before stepping towards the door, pulling off her boots and setting them on the rug by a pair of red flats, placing her socks from her jacket pocket with them. Then, she made her way back toward the living room, pausing at the table sitting against the wall to her right, close to her room.
Her fingers brushed the glass as she passed, her hand raising to brush her hair behind her ears. Rune settled on the couch, lighting a candle and sitting criss cross on the couch cushions.

Kale exhaled shaking his head as he finished taking off his gloves. Making his way over he made a small pallet by the door before he sat on it. He closed his eyes and worked on taking deep breaths to calm down. It wasn't getting mad over.

She ran a hand through the flame, though a cold sweat pricked at the back of her neck and her palms grew clammy. For years Rune had tried to get over her fear, to see fire as she once had in the past, but the sting in her shoulder hadn't allowed her to move on.
She wondered if she ever would.
Sitting back with a heavy sigh, Rune twitched a couple of fingers, a small puff of air blowing out the candle as she drew her knees up to her chest, resting her chin on it. She was too wound to sleep.

Kale opened his eyes the next morning and looked around at his surroundings. He let out a breath he didn't know he had- good he hadn't had a nightmare. At least not tonight. But the lack of sleep was bound to bite him in the ass later. Exhaling he made his way to the kitchen silently, as to not wake her up if she was asleep.

Rune was leaning against the counter on her elbow, her other hands raised slightly and fingers moving slowly, twirling a small thread of water around it before she placed it into the vase of flowers. She repeated the process, though when she heard the footsteps behind her, she quickly lowered her hand and let the water drop into the sink as she twisted around while straightening.
"Morning," she said quietly, still in her shorts, jacket and tank-top from the night before. Her hair was loosely tied up in a knot, strays framing her face. "Sleep well?"

Kale watched her from the wall silently, eyes widening a little. All he saw was the pot and water going into it, but where was the watering can? Shaking his head he walked up to her. " Good morning." He took in her appearance with a frown.
"Sleep well?"
"Kale lifted his eyes up to her. "I've had worse nights." He let out a small breath. "Honestly I didn't sleep."

She frowned, green eyes pinching at the corners a little. "I'm sorry you didn't sleep too well." She looked down, though gently shook her head with a smile. Not sleeping was something she understood-- she hadn't slept in some time. "No matter."
Rune started to dig through the cabinets. "What would you like for breakfast?"

"I'm sorry you didn't sleep too well. "No matter."
"Not your fault. Besides the covers were comfy at least." He gave her a small smile, trying to reassure her.
"What would you like for breakfast?"
"Omelet." replied, not even having to give it any thought. "Er- I mean I'll just get something at the pier if that's alright?" he looked away. What had he said last night. Oh, that he wouldn't impose on the girl. Right, boardwalk it was. He wanted to mention the water, but thought better of it. It was hard to keep something like that hidden.

Her hands froze mid movement, her back towards him. Her muscles quiver, but she pushed on and began pulling out the things for an omelet. "Nonsense. Why pay for it when you get eat for free?" She laughed lightly, pulling down a pan.
She was thankful her back was to him, that her hair hid most of her expression. The emotion didn't need to be known.

His gaze grew worried at her reaction and he instantly changed his mind, even giving a small smile. "If you're sure you don't mind." replies, eyes softening. He was rather looking forward to the food, granted that he hadn't eaten in two days. "Need any help?"

Runic gave a small shrug again, beginning to cook the egg. With her other hand, she took a pinch of pepper and onion and sprinkled it over the egg. "It was hard, but life is short." Her voice lowered as she continued, almost like an after thought whisper, "The fire taught me that. So I try to enjoy what I can where I can.
