Kale started to doze off when he heard the voice change, as well as get closer. He tilted his head and cracked an eye open before looking behind him, view upside down. His eye roamed lazily over the water trying to see who was singing. Barely seeing a figure he yawned before shifting back into a comfortable position.

She continued her solitary performance, though when she heard the night crowd begin to fade and the early birds coming to play, she stopped, the water moving to her hands as she walked over to where the tides kissed the shore. Leaning down, Runic let her fingers touch the edge of the waves, the water returning to sea. Her hand brushed her hair back from her face, it dampened from the water. She watched as the sky began it's slow change, darkened teals and blues creeping their way across.

Kale once again began to doze,letting the darkness overcome him like everything else. He exhaled a few times, letting the crisp night air lap at him in a soothing manner. As he fell asleep he shivered unconsciously as he dreamt of a song being sung along to the water moving in dance like movements.

Something nearby caught Rune's attention and she whirls around, eyes flicking about and her former bliss disappeared. Her heart skipped a beat as she turned and returned quickly to her things, pulling on her boots, stuffing her socks inside her jacket pocket and whirled to run out of the rocks.
She nearly screamed.
Standing between her and escape was a guy with silvery hair and vibrant eyes. Rune took a step back, grip tightening on her jacket. She recognized those eyes anywhere. She shook her head, her voice low and wavering.
"Why are you here?"
"Why else?" he replied, stepping forward. His eyes glowed in the dark, and she knew it was only a matter of time.
Holding her breath, her eyes flicked about, and as she saw the black tendrils and the flames rising from her feet, she stepped back with a shouted, "It's not real!"
The illusion faded before it could truly begin as she whirled around, drawing her hand tensely through the air as she started running, the waves rising towards the guy. He swore and called out, "I'm not the last one, sweet heart!" With a growl he vanished into thin air, though Rune kept running.
She made it out from under the pier, tripping within the sand. A yelp escaped and she twisted onto her back, panting and looking around frantically, breath heavy. Even as she watched the water rise and reach her shoes, she didn't relax. Instead, she trembled, struggling to pull herself back together.

Kale cringed in his sleep as he heard voices from afar, and a disturbance in the air. Feeling the air get warmer he sat up slowly and looked around with wide eyes. The air flow shouldn't have changed that fast. As he was blinking sleep out of his eyes he heard a yelp and he swung his feet over the edge of the bench before moving to the edge of the pier. He looked around before he shifted forward on his stomach and peered over the edge. "Is someone there?"

"Is someone there?"
Runic, out of panic, gave a startled cry and whipped around towards the pier, widened eyes training themselves on the boy on the edge. Sand now covered her arms and her legs, and her jacket laid on the ground at her side. She swallowed hard, limbs still trembling as the ghost of the flames still radiated from her skin. To run or stay?
How could one know her worst fears?
Then again, he was a demon.

Kale inched back at the cry before he squinted, taking in the girls state. His eyes widened some at the appearance, the sand and dirt wasn't what worried him. No, it was the way she was shaking. He had seen the same fear that she had in her eyes one too many times. Without another thought he jumped off the pier and walked over to her, crouching to fit better. "What's wrong?" asked quietly picking up her jacket.

"What's wrong?"
Rune gripped her arms with her knees drawn up as her eyes flicked to the pier, scanning the area. Now, all she could acknowledge was the burn at the back of her neck, the tingle of instinct that knew she was prey again.
She looked at Kale, eyes only flicking over his features before she looked down and away, taking a steadying breath. "Just startled myself, I think," she lied, voice soft.

He met her gaze after a moment before he sighed. Raising a hand he brought it up to her eyes. Covering them he quickly removed the sand with his abilities. Only taking a few seconds he lowered it, merely to bring her jacket to rest over her shoulders. "Must have been quite a spook then." says quietly. He let the fact she said think go, for her sake. "I too tend to scare at the simplest things. "

When his hand came to her eyes, she tensed, though a heartbeat later she could feel the sand drift off of her skin. When he moved his hand away, her gaze was trained on him, eyes studying as slowly the fear drifted away.
"Must have been quite a spook then. I too tend to scare at the simplest things. "
Gently pulling the jacket close around her shoulders with one hand, she searched his expression. Now she felt a little guilty lying to him, but what could would the truth do since she herself wasn't sure what had happened?
"I-I suppose it was." Rune turned and looked towards the rocks again, though a moment later she stood slowly.

Kale cursed himself when she tensed momentarily. Of course she would tense, here he was covering her eyes with no warning. And on top of that he was a stranger who approached her when she was scared. Mentally facepalming he met her gaze, relaxing a little as he watched the fear dissipate.
"I-I suppose it was."
Kale smiled to himself as she pulled the jacket to her- at least this way she wouldn't be cold. He was about to ask her a question when she rose to her feet. Standing as well, he studied her- hand outreached in case she fell. "You sure you're ok? I can walk you home."

Runic looked at him, weighing her options. At the moment, she didn't want to be alone, so she gave him a short nod. "I-if it's not too much trouble... Unless it's too far out of your way, and if that's the case I don't want to be a burden," she murmured, running a hand through her bangs.

Kale let a breath out when she nodded. He didn't mind to do it, besides it was dark out. No one should be out by themselves this late.
"I-if it's not too much trouble... Unless it's too far out of your way, and if that's the case I don't want to be a burden,"
He let out a laugh suddenly at her statement before he covered his mouth. "Sorry. And not at all, I don't mind. Just let me get my things. He walked to the side of the pier and jumped up over the rail, making his way over to the bench. Grabbing his jacket he made his way back over to her, quickly- but slow enough not to seem to eager. He didn't want to scare her after all, she had been spooked enough. "Ready when you are."

Rune nodded and waited patiently, eyes flicking around uneasily. She slipped her arms into the sleeves of her jacket, suddenly self conscious of her scars that she hoped hadn't been seen yet. She looked over as he came back.
"Ready when you are."
She nodded again, walking up the beach and to the boardwalk, stuffing her hands in her pockets. Her gaze flicked to him and she offered a small smile. "By the way, your performance was breath taking."

Kale followed her, walking behind and beside her at the same time. He put his hands behind his head as they walked, half his attention on the sky. "Hmmm? Oh well thank you." he shrugged sheepishly smiling back. "And thank you for the tip, it was unnecessary but appreciated. " tilting his head he took her appearance in again, this time actually looking at the details. He took note of the way she carried herself, as well as the clothes that she had on.
