Riad hurries over and pulls the gate open, an arm going out to catch her if she falls as he steps around it. "When Dumond came to Carter's I was afraid..." He pauses, unable to say the words as his heart twists, suddenly remembering Zlo.

Taking a breath he wraps his arms around her, eyes soft though troubled. "I know," he murmurs quietly. "Do you know who did it? Any idea?"

"I don't.." Ammiras whispers, voice cracking as she leans against him, leg giving out on her "I can't do this, Riri." she makes out, face buried in his chest as she cries, trembling "They were all I had.."

Chin on top of her head, he looks straight ahead as his shoulders rise and fall as the thought turns over in his head. "Dumond is still here," he says quietly. "And there's still myself, and now Carter. There's the bar. You didn't lose all you had, but I know that there's not a person out there that can replace the others. I know that."

"Ammiras." He doesn't keep his hold on her, letting her pull away. His lips purse as he takes another uncertain breath. "Ammi... Stay at the bar for now. I'll see..." His jaw ticks a moment as he feels something in the back of his head. "I'll see what I may be able to do."

He smiles a little at her in reassurance. "Go wherever you feel you need to. If all else fails, my door will always be open and the phone on should you need anything." His expression turns serious. "I swear that I'll find whoever did this, and they will pay."

His lips quirk in a thin smile, uncharacteristic of him. "I doubt this other half dwelling here would let its host perish if something should happen," he murmurs, taking a breath. "But regardless, someone has tried to attack you, and even if I may not be part of your family, Ammi, I still owe you my life."

Riad's jaw ticks a little before he dips his head to her, knowing that arguing otherwise is futile. "If you need anything at all, don't hesitate to contact me." He looks at her and offers a small smile before disappearing in a puff of smoke.

Ammiras whispers, voice cracking as he vanishes before her legs give out on her, hands clutching at the fence to keep her weight up, trembling until she changes forms, irises changing color. Once under the guise of a tawny haired girl with green eyes, she slowly inhales then takes off back the way she came, leg that of stone, Dumond racing her
