The Breach us the underbelly of the city, a place where long forgotten businesses rot and the darker beings dwell. Generally an unsafe place for any human, the darkest of dealings and greatest of fights tend to occur here.

Everything hurt.
Stumbling through the door of the small, rundown house Elias called home, both him and his body groaned. Bones ached after another long night of fighting, his back protesting the weight of his wings as they drug behind him, barely making it beyond the threshold before the door fell closed. He trudged by a small shelf in the hall, empty for the exception of a small bowl meant to catch keys (which he didn't have), by the stairs that whispered from weight long gone from their surface, past the empty kitchen whose only sign of life was a plate, frying pan and cup resting in the sink. Elias's feet drug him to the living room, where he settled heavily on a couch resting by a long cold fireplace.
The only light in the room came from the demonic flames that hovered near Elias's now long and twisting horns, dark against the pale white of his hair. They eventually flickered out as he laid his head back against the couch, arms hitting the cushions as dead weights as his wings tucked against his back. His skin was peppered with healing cuts and scraps, dirt dusting his cheeks and arms and black shirt, transferring itself to the fabric of his seat.
Elias's chest rose and fell heavily as he tried to regain his breath before it hitched, face twisting in pain as slowly, agonizingly, he took on a more human appearance. His horns seeped back in, wings snaking under the skin on his back. Over the course of the last two years as he found the dangers that sought out Eva, he was finding it more and more difficult to change between the two forms.
It didn't help that the fighting was beginning to take it's toll-- the number of Wraiths was becoming almost too much for him to handle alone.

Staying silent for a few long moments, Nova watches him from inside the stone before she slowly speaks, voice low and garbled-harder to talk to him when he's not unconscious "Elias, please. Go ask for help, you can't keep doing this alone. Let me help you."

"Elias, please. Go ask for help, you can't keep doing this alone. Let me help you."
Now, his eyes opened and he stared at the ceiling, the corners of his eyes pinched as he tried to focus on the blurred lines and brighter-than-normal color. Was there something in his eye? Raising a hand slowly, he placed on over an eye, still looking, before he determined that the pale blurriness was in both eyes. The hand fell back down with a heavy sigh.
"Until I can finish figuring out to set him free and how to keep them from her, I'm not doing anything," Elias murmured, attempting to sit straighter now that the last of the wounds sizzled away. "They've got enough on their plates. As for you," now he started the process of kicking off his shoes, though his body protested the movements, so they were more stiff and jerky. "We still haven't found a way to release you from the pier, so until that's accomplished, there's not much you can do."

"Set who free?" Nova asks him quietly, pausing in hesitation as he continues

"Elias Hext." she snaps, tone sharp in response to his comment "Don't you dar-" she starts until her voice suddenly cuts off as she senses something, stone glowing blue briefly. Keeping the fact that she felt multiple breaches in her barrier to herself, she swallows, sighing "Please. Just take one day to rest. That's all I ask." she murmurs, trying to keep the worry for both Eva and him from her voice

""Set who free? Elias Hext. Don't you dar-"
His pale eyes flicked towards the stone at the sound of hesitation.
"Please. Just take one day to rest. That's all I ask."
Slowly, he took the shoes and sat them neatly by the couch, the last of his other form reduced to only minimal scars. Taking a day to rest was a thought that settled heavy, and immediately his mind wanted to jump up and go through the process again, the daily grind. A deep breath filled Elias's aching lunges, and was let out in one long go.
Riad was suffering, and it was his fault. Eva was suffering, and it was his fault. As hands shoved through his hair, he felt it again as it made itself at home. Without wasting another moment, he turned and laid heavily on the couch, facing the back of it as he tucked an arm under his head.
Elias refused to answer Nova, but he also refused to give in to the itch to keep going. His body needed the rest.

Sighing quietly when no response comes, Nova purses her lips at the small turmoil she feels coming from the cabin before she closes her eyes-pushing the feeling away Tomorrow. I'll tell him tomorrow. After he rests. she repeats over and over her head as a sort of mantra as an attempt to steel herself

Though his body yearned for sleep, Elias's mind didn't settle. It ran circles around itself like a dog chasing it's tail, coming to no beginning or end-- just a cycle of thoughts rotating out.
Eva's more cool demeanor the last time he saw her, even after they reconnected. She thought herself ready, then was t, and the two argued over something stupid. Elias "disappeared" again, Eva went back to the grind training with Kos. The train of thought lingered on them, and he felt a pang of jealousy from the few times he saw them in passing. The Raven boy, who always had a sort of sharp edge to him, softened in Eva's presence. Elias couldn't blame him-- she did tend to bring forth a better side of a person. But, he believed her to be his. Or believed she was, and still clung to that belief.
I should've went back.
His mind left that hole and traveled up another bank. He should've gone back to Riad. News traveled fast-- Zlo was killed, Lucifer died, and the new king of hell refused his position. His gentle brother left with that sort of torture, it ate Elias alive. He was stupid when he was young, fleeing what he thought was an awful life and fell into an even worse one, paying no mind to how it affected everyone else.
It was the same thoughts eating him up, and Elias sought redemption in a one man war against the world. He wanted to make things right. He wanted to correct the wrongs he committed, trying to find the end to the Wraiths to protect Eva, to end Riad's suffering. There was one solution he could think of, and it was one that would rip him from the world he yearned for.
Take on Lucifer, become the king of hell, reap the souls to keep the Wraiths at bay.
However, he didn't know if this solution would kill his brother in the process, who was given life again through the power of the devil himself.
Elias's fist tightened and he curled in on himself a bit, burying his face into the pillow of the couch and remained that way for a few hours.

"Elias?" Nova asks after a few hours of silence, voice quiet so she doesn't wake him if he's not still awake

"Elias?"
A response didn't come immediately. Elias still laid, facing the back of the couch, an arm tucked under his head, unmoving. Then, slowly, his body moved; first, a shuffle of feet, the movement of a leg; then a rub of his cheek on his arm, a tightening of fists. Eventually, he unfolded himself and sat up, leaning against the back of the couch with his hands in his lap. His gaze was both light and dark, empty and a shell of what it used to be when he regained his sight, when he tried to do good.
He was starting to look a little more shadow-like as time passed.
The black dog that his thoughts became had continued its chase of its tail as he tried to rest, but now, it was still. There was a singular thought that brought it to a halt, his mind to a halt.
Could he actually survive in a human-like world after spending so long in the world of demons and war?

"Elias?" Nova asks again softly before falling silent momentarily as he shifts. Worry clouding her brain and unable to contain it any longer, she opens her mouth, speaking up with hesitancy "Eli, I think I-"
Voice cracking as pain suddenly laces through her mind, Nova unlinks herself from her son momentarily-retreating into the stone and falling as silent as he's been
