 The Boardwalk, a couple of miles down from the pier, is a place where any species and race will mingle. You'll hardly find it quiet. There's no end to the extraordinary views and variety of people you could meet, including both humans and non-humans. You can skate down the wooden walkways, meet your fair share of street performers, head to the beach venue skate park, or maybe hit up some of the water-side casinos and the amusement park. |

Kale walked down the path, doing his best to shuffle his belongings without running into anyone. He had almost overslept this morning-and if he didnt hurry it would be hard to find a spot. It was a miracle that he managed to get his hair tamed the way he wanted, though his clothes were a little wrinkled. Shaking his head he tried to move faster, pushing down the thought that his ability would make things easier. He really wanted to...but he would never hear the end of it. Hearing laughter he stepped back quickly, though he wasnt quick enough. Stumbling as the kid clipped his hoop, it richocheted into the bag he was holding, knocking some of the contents loose. Eyes widening he shifted as he tried to collect everything, a few of the balls rolling away from him.

Rune wandered the boardwalk in the early hours, her hands tucked into the pocket of her light letter-man jacket, hair free and down as it spilled over her shoulders onto her back. The shops were only just stirring, but as the hour of opening passes, traffic picks up. People ride cruiser bikes, groups skate by, people gather around. She did her best to avoid many of them, she danced around with familiarity as she rounded the corner, but she stopped suddenly when a ball rolled up to her foot.
Stooping to grab it, she picks up another one as it came to a stop, and quickly she looked around to find the source. Seeing a young man nearby struggling to gather his things, and quickly she hurried over. "Oh my goodness, are you okay?"

Kale glanced up as someone approached him, eyes tightening in annoyance. "No I'm not! Lady luck has decided I'm not worthy enough." Lowering his bag, the first thing he saw was strands of hair. Flinching at the looks he got from a few passing by- his frown deepened. Now he had done it. Pale blue eyes settled on the figure in front of him slowly-finally noticing that she had gathered his balls for him. Face reddening he turned his gaze away-suddenly embarrassed. "Thanks." The word came out more as a mutter though as he looked away, holding the bag out. "If you can, just set them on top."

Biting her lip, Runic still knelt down to pick up the last of the balls. She understood what he was feeling-- she had experienced it many times, and it certainly didn't help that the public was not treating him well in kind. Using her own gaze, she gave many passerbys a disapproving frown, then turned her attention back to the boy in front of her.
"Thanks. If you can, just set them on top."
She offered a small smile of a truce, stepping over and poured the balls from her arm into his bag. "It's never easy trying to carry equipment around here," she said once a moment of silence passed. "I commend you for being able to do it-- I gave up on it a long time ago."

Gaze difting to her,his gaze widened as she defended him silently. Why would she do such a thing after how he hust treated her. He hadn't missed her reaction, he had obviously upset her some way. And yet she was still helping him. Swallowing at her smile he frowned eyes guarded. Mentally kicking himself he looked away, pushing his pride down. "Im sorry I lost my temper. You didn't deserve that."
"I commend you for being able to do it-- I gave up on it a long time ago."
His head snapped to glance at her in surprise. Intrigue filled his eyes as he leaned closer,awe in his eyes. "Are you a performer?"

"It's okay, frustration does that," Rune replied with a shake of her head. "I certainly appreciate the apology, though."
Now, she truly took a moment to look at him. Before she felt a little skittish, more like helping a stranger than anything, but now that they were talking, there were a few extra moments granted to her. He certainly looked a little rumpled, and maybe a little tired, but that could be from the scowl he had on his face. But when it turned to awe, she couldn't help but smile a bit.
"Are you a performer?"
Rune tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "I am-- er, rather, was." She looked away, half tucking herself under the shoulders of her jacket. "It's...it's been a long time, but I used to be a dancer."

"That doesnt mean it was right of me." Kale responded frowning to himself. Eyes landed on her he inhaled as he took in her features, eyes growing in size at her smile. She was kinda cute. There was a sort of boyish charm about- though he supposed that was due to her clothes. He had to admit- he admired her style. Realizing that he was still staring he glanced away before she could notice.
"I am-- er, rather, was.It's...it's been a long time, but I used to be a dancer."
Eyes glowing with excitement he stepped forward, reminding himself not to crowd her. "That's cool. Its nice to meet ya. Names Kale." Spotting more of a crowd his demeanor changed slightly as he made note of the time. "Oh man he's gonna kill me for being late." Frowning he turned to her a devious grin appearing. "Say how fast can you run? I really need to get to our spot. Ill make it worth your while I promise."

Seeing him brighten up, Rune felt accomplished. He was looking a little more lively with his bright gaze and the slight quirk in his lips. "Rune. It's a pleasure to meet you," she beamed, immediately making note of his name and pairing it with his appearance. There wasn't any certainty to how long they would be talking, so she wanted to ensure she could find him later.
"Oh man he's gonna kill me for being late. Say how fast can you run? I really need to get to our spot. Ill make it worth your while I promise."
She was taken aback by the grin. It suited him all too well, and it stirred a bit of something inside. Even though she had no idea where he was needing to go or who would be upset, Rune replied easily. "I suppose I can keep stride pretty easily. Are you sure you want me to follow you?"

Kale tilted his head before he laughed. Snickering he rubbed his head. "Sorry, that was rude. It took me by surprise is all." Opening his eyes his nose twitched. "It suits you."
"I suppose I can keep stride pretty easily. Are you sure you want me to follow you?"
Stepping back he immediately handed her the hoops, face turning serious. "Of course I do." After a second he put his hand on her shoulder. "Im counting on you Rune." Grinning he whirled before taking off in a sprint.

At the sudden laugh, she blushed and looked away, sheepish. It was a reaction she often got-- it was odd for someone to have that sort of name, but like her sister, it stood out quite a bit.
"Sorry, that was rude. It took me by surprise is all. It suits you."
Rune looked back at him, a small smile on her lips though her cheeks remained rosy. He didn't seem as much of a grump as he had a few moments ago, and this more chipper side seemed to suit him best. Though, as the hoops are held out to her, she straightened and took them in hand, snaking an arm through them to carry.
"Of course I do. I'm counting on you Rune."
His sudden bolt took her by surprise, and quickly she sped after him with a laugh. It was obvious that he had far more energy than she thought, and it was contagious as they wove through the crowd to their destination.

Feeling the wind against his face caused his grin to only spread wider. Bobbing and weaving through the crowd, he laughed before pushing himself to run faster. It wasnt anything like the freedom he had growing up, but it was close. Skidding to a stop in front of a store he inhaled before turning to make sure she was still behind him. And hopefully his tardiness had gone unnoticed.

It was a challenge, but Rune had kept up with Kale's pace. She had a couple of close calls before they reached their destination, but she managed to dance out of the way of catastrophe and escaped unscathed. Kale without a doubt had beaten her there, and when she reached him she let out a puff of air as she slowed to a stop, head falling back a little before she hunched over.
"I'm...way more out of shape....than I thought," she panted, then laughed as she straightened. "That just means I need to pick up my old routines again." Then, after a quick look around, "This is where you perform?"

Laughing Kale reached forward taking the things from her with ease. "What are you talking about?" He leaned closer, eyes full of awe. "You did great! No one has been able to keep up with me like you just did."

Grin still stuck on his face he nodded as he glanced around. "I usually try to get this spot. Its not the most popular area but that's part of why I like it." A thought hit him and he rubbed his neck, suddenly nervous. "Say would you like to come to the show? I mean its not too much longer before it starts but you're invited."

Rune beamed at him. Maybe it was the fact that he was absolutely energetic about the current turn of events and it became contagious. Or maybe it was the brightness of his smile on his face-- she couldn't figure it out, and decided she would try not to dwell on it as he took the items from her. "Thank you."
"I usually try to get this spot. Its not the most popular area but that's part of why I like it. Say would you like to come to the show? I mean its not too much longer before it starts but you're invited."
"I'd love to," the girl smiled, accepting the offer almost immediately, though noticed the nervousness. "That'd be wonderful, if it's okay with you."
