A district in Anchorage that thrives on the night life. This is where a biggest concentration of people reside, and housing stretches up high as apartments and townhouses are stacked on one another. There's plenty of mom and pop shops, convenience stores, and pawns shops, but if you're looking for more standard shopping, you won't find it here.

After searching for quite some time, Kos looked up at the building he stood in front of, his hands buried in the pockets of his jeans. His gaze was heavy as he counted the floors using the bricks, remembering the number he was given by an informant. 313.
He slipped inside, past the front desk, past the other tenants, only an afterthought in their minds. He was a shadow that made no noise, that blended into the background. Instead of the elevator, he took the stairs to take the time to turn over what he was going to say, how he was going to say it. Would she be angry? Will she shut him out? Will she run again? He couldn't be sure.
And the weight continued growing as he neared the door.
Kos stared at the door for a long moment. Then, taking a deep breath, he knocked. There was a heartbeat of nothing, no response. He pursed his lips. Did he have the wrong one? No, he knew he didn't. He knocked again.
"Haven, it's me," he said, then waited. No response. Kos's voice wavered. "Haven, I know you wanted nothing more than to be left alone after what happened, but something's come up. I really need you. You're the only one who I could think of that could help, and I don't know what to do." He rested his forehead against the door and closed his eyes. "Please, Haven. I need your help."

Sitting in her bedroom she unclipped the bag before putting the hose into the side of her mouth. Feeling the liquid hit her throat her eyes turned a bright red. Inhaling the liquid she squeezed, eyes narrowed as she tried to get every last drop. Still feeling a uncomfortable burn in her throat, a guttural growl could be heard as her instincts took over. Throwing the bag aside she grabbed another bag, downing it. In her bloodlust she heard a knock from the other room clear as day. As if a switch was hit her eyes returned to normal instantly. Body shaking she clamped the bag quickly before moving to hide it, footsteps silent. Hearing another knock she glanced up, panic settling in. She made it to the bathroom in a second- trying to get rid of the evidence trailing her chin. Senses still sharp her body turned rigid at what she heard from the other side of the door. Gaze wavering with uncertainty she walked up to the one thing separating them-unsure what to say. Hand outstretched her hand gripped the doorknob, reminding herself not to break it. Her heart and her brain were at war- part of her wanted to let him in. To be able to see a familiar face. Something that her soul yearned for. But fear was overruling her heart. Could she face him? After all the running. Tears pooled in her eyes as she fought. She wanted to call out to him- but she was so ashamed of herself that she was afraid of what he would think.
Sighing her eyes closed, hand tightening in frustration. She's gotten sloppy in hiding her tracks it seems. Though he was the only one who would be able to track her. Eyes opening she pulled the door back, coming face to face with him. "Kos.." Shaking her tears away she stepped back. "Come on in." Pulling the door open wider to let him, her body stiffened as she looked anywhere but at him. She was but a ghost of what she used to be- her hair had long faded into a dull brown. As for her stature, it was small and seemingly frail from where she had lost so much weight.

At first, he thought the door wouldn't open.
When it did, the dim light only reinforced the notion that he was nothing more than a shadow. His black hair was tousled and unkempt, brushing across his low brows that overshadowed his gaze and met with the dark skin under his eyes. It was evident that he hadn't slept over the last couple of days, his clothes rumpled under his leather jacket that hid his hands in deep pockets as distress and urgency kept him going.
Kos recognized that the world hadn't been kind to either of them as his crimson gaze met Haven's fleeting one. Even in the dark, he could see the red that tinged her eyes.
"Kos.. Come on in."
He hesitated a moment, then stepped forward, a pale hand came out of a pocket and clasped gently on her shoulder and gave a gentle squeeze as he passed. "Thank you," he murmured, passing beyond the boundary of the door.

Stepping back into her small apartment to let him pass she shut the door behind him. There was a small loveseat in the middle of the room and a glass coffee table directly in front. If you looked further there was a mounted tv and tv stand. The kitchen was separated by a small island that was connected to the stovetop. As for her room...she kept that locked or at the very least closed. Her eyes saddened at the glimpses that she did dare to take of the man. Seeing him this way- unnerved her in more ways than one. What had happened to the man she met years ago? The one who was silent yet so bold that no matter what everyone else said-stuck to his beliefs. Yet here he was, appearance something akin to the dead. Gaze still averted she glanced down at herself. Her mouth frowned at the realization that she was no better off. Starting at the hand weighing on her shoulder she looked up- finally meeting his gaze.
"Thank you,"
"Thank you?" She echoed before moving to the couch. "I havent even agreed to anything yet. I almost didn't open the door." She admitted as she cleared the few belongings off the couch there. "Can I get you anything to drink?"

"Thank you? I havent even agreed to anything yet. I almost didn't open the door."
"The fact you opened the door is enough to be thankful for." The reply rolled out without a missed beat in a quiet tone as Kos watched her tidy for a long moment.
"Can I get you anything to drink?"
He shook his as he settled on the couch. "I'm fine, thanks." His gaze traveled around as he pulled his hands from his pockets, folding them in front of him as he leaned against his knees. He guess based on how barren the apartment was, Haven hadn't been here long at all. There were few signs of life, and even fewer signs of possessions. For a moment, his mind drifted back to the memories of happier times, where years ago it was all of them together-- Haven, Nik, Ink, Kris and her brother, Desolate. There was a pang in his chest, and he rubbed at it with a hand.
"I don't know if you'll be able to help, but you're the only one I could think of who may know," Kos replied once the silence became uncomfortable. "I just... I hate that I've broken my vow and came to you."

"The fact you opened the door is enough to be thankful for."
"Yes well. It would have been rude of me to turn away a old friend who traveled this far for a visit." Haven leaned against the islang arms crossing as she hugged herself. Or at least that's how she looked. In truth her fingers were digging into the insides of her arms.
"I'm fine, thanks."
Her head bobbed in response to his question, feet shifting nervously to the side. Gaze trained on him like a hawk she waited to see who would break the silence first. After all it had been years since since the incident that had torn everything apart. Blinking at the spot his hand landed her eyes softened, feeling something similar. It was simpler back then- when everything seemed normal. Times when they were all together and no one had to run or hide from anything.
"I don't know if you'll be able to help, but you're the only one I could think of who may know.I just... I hate that I've broken my vow and came to you."
Closing her eyes, a deep sigh shook her entire body. Her hand flew to her face, rubbing it as she tried to gather her thoughts. She wasn't sure what to make of everything right now. Though there was one thought weighing on her mind that she needed to get out. Eyes now open she pushed off the wall. "Answer met this...Are they both still happy?" She murmured knowing full well she wouldn't have to explain her question.

"Answer met this...Are they both still happy?"
Kos knew without looking how she felt with her arms wrapped around herself, her head low. And when she straightened, he could hear it in her voice. He didn't look up, and the reply took a moment to come. In reality, they weren't unhappy, but since things among supernaturals have grown tense, the world outside grew rocky. "They appear to be," he paused. "I'm sure he's not happy with being called away from her for long."

"They appear to be-I'm sure he's not happy with being called away from her for long."
A miraid of pain and regret flitted into her gaze and she closed her eyes in response. Body tensing she took a few deep breaths before answering. "That's good..but knowing her she's more likely to throw a fit.Though that answers my next question." Her eyes opened, a hint of fondness in them as she met his gaze. Clearing her throat she shook her head, the reason he was here still lingering in her mind. "What's the situation? Its unlike you to be clueless."

"That's good..but knowing her she's more likely to throw a fit. Though that answers my next question."
Kos's ears caught the waver and the breaths, and his gaze moved from the floor to her, now studying closely. The frown was evident, and there was a pang of regret. He shouldn't have let her go through with everything, let her run, removing herself from their lives with a flick of the wrist. A part of him wondered what things would be like if he hadn't let her walk away.
Maybe he himself would be a little more happy.
"What's the situation? Its unlike you to be clueless."
Now, Kos looked away. That was a flaw in his character-- he hated when he couldn't figure things out on his own. Like how he ended up a guardian to someone he had never met before in his life, told to go to her and stay until it was time to leave (which was never told to him when that would be). Like how he almost has lost his ability to shift freely, and each time it had gotten harder. How the very thing he was supposed to protect was now holed up and experiencing something that looked vaguely like what he suffered through as a child.
He took a deep breath, readying himself.
"It's been a load of shit, really," was the first thing he said.
"I was told to protect a girl-- a Valkyrie, by what I've gathered. This happened two years ago. Around the same time, her and her demon boyfriend had somewhat of a falling out." Kos scrunched his nose. "Actually, that is not a good way to put it. She found out that he was the reason behind her mother's death, and in her anger, he left and hasn't been back. Or so I thought."
He leaned back on the couch, head resting against the back of it as he glowered at the ceiling. "Apparently, she left at some point and found him, reconnected, but returned without him two months ago, and again, we haven't seen him since. But now...Something's wrong. She collapsed today when I brought Nik to help finish training her for her own protection. Dropped like a fly and was almost unresponsive. We managed to wake her up again, but we discovered that her wings..."
His voice wavered and he stopped, eyes closing tightly as he tried to find the words. "Her wings are showing decay, Haven. I'm not as familiar with Valkyries as I am with angels, but I know for any winged person that when something effects the wings, it's serious. I just can't figure out if it's because whatever happened between the two of them has caused her to fall, if there's something more I don't know about, if it's--" he stopped short. What more could there be?
Kos's chest rose and fell heavily as a hand came up to his head, fingers jamming through long black hair. His palm came to a rest over one of his eyes, and unconsciously he pressed it in as he bit back the rest of the things that still plagued him. These were things he kept trying to shove away. I fell for the one that is claimed, that isn't for me, this is just a job, he didn't say. I miss them, I miss you, I miss the life from before everything went south.

Havens gaze softened as she waited for him to get his bearings. Whatever he was dealing with, it was obvious it was important to him. Kos has always been a closed off man-and he took his job very seriously. She herself knew all too well that some things were hard to admit- not only out loud but to others.
"It's been a load of shit, really. I was told to protect a girl-- a Valkyrie, by what I've gathered. This happened two years ago. Around the same time, her and her demon boyfriend had somewhat of a falling out.Actually, that is not a good way to put it. She found out that he was the reason behind her mother's death, and in her anger, he left and hasn't been back. Or so I thought.Apparently, she left at some point and found him, reconnected, but returned without him two months ago, and again, we haven't seen him since. But now...Something's wrong. She collapsed today when I brought Nik to help finish training her for her own protection. Dropped like a fly and was almost unresponsive. We managed to wake her up again, but we discovered that her wings...""
Haven stayed quiet as he talked- watching his every movement. Gaze growing distant at the story she quickly shook her head. There were too many similarities between herself and this girl. But she wasn't the one who mattered right now.
"Her wings are showing decay, Haven. I'm not as familiar with Valkyries as I am with angels, but I know for any winged person that when something effects the wings, it's serious. I just can't figure out if it's because whatever happened between the two of them has caused her to fall, if there's something more I don't know about, if it's--"
Her eyes narrowed in thought. She herself has never met a valkyrie, she had only red about them in journals left behind. Sympathizing with the story, her heart also ached for her friend. Despite how he was acting, she had lived long enough to see the signs. He- if only a little loved this girl. Catching movement her gaze flicked back to him, eyes widening as her eyes glistened with emotion. Many things had changed over the years for both of them, but she never expected that he would look so lost. A sharp pain entered her heart-fingers drawing blood from her arms as her nails dug into the skin. Just what had he gone through? Mind going blank she was at his side in a instant, arms encasing his his torso as her chin rested on his neck. Deep down part of her knew that she was being selfish-her actions would most likely only hurt him again. They had both made vows that day, but that didn't matter to her right now. This seemed to be the only way to let him know the words she couldn't bring herself to speak. Her hug tightened as tears pooled her eyes. I'm sorry I left you alone to pick up my mess. That I pushed that burden on you for so many years. "Forgive me." She whispered, though if it was referring to the past or present she couldn't determine. She just felt they both needed to hear it.

When her felt a vague sense of warmth wrap around him, his jaw ticked a bit, and his eyes didn't open. Or rather, they didn't dare open. Kos was starting to feel everything that he had bottled up over the last decade-- when Haven left and he tried picking up the pieces; when he himself has a misstep that resulted in a catastrophe that he hadn't been able to admit to anyone; when he was drug to protect a feeble girl who kept a demon, one of the few things in the world he despised, around; understanding the situation that said demon was going through, and the desperate yearning to find him and tell him "Don't make the same mistake I did."
His hand tightened at her voice.
"Forgive me."
The response was a quick jab with timing almost reminiscent from his old self, "If anyone is needing forgiveness, it's me." With a ticking jaw, he tried to bite his tongue. He hadn't even told Haven, who was the last real connection to the past he had left. Hand falling from his face, his eyes opened as it found one of her wrists, but they were darkened with a sort of deep pain that couldn't be conveyed in words as he stared at the ceiling, the crimson bright.
Now his mind was frantically trying to steer him away from himself. "Is there anything that lies in your knowledge that can point me in the right direction to find a solution for the girl? I can't have her die, but I can't save her if I don't know what's happening. Unlike you, I haven't met too many people who would have that kind of knowledge." His voice was low, almost hoarse, as his desperate attempt to change the subject was futile, as his mind kept circling itself like the crow that lived inside of him.

Her eyes closed in relief when he didn't push her away. Though she loosened her grip as she sensed some discomfort coming from him. She couldn't shake the feeling that something else was plaguing his mind, but she knew better to push her luck. After all that was why she had disappeared in the first place. She had kept Rita on too short of a leash and had ultimately turned them against one another. As for Nik- he would have continued following her faithfully no matter how he felt.
"If anyone is needing forgiveness, it's me."
Shaking her head she bit her lip as he took her wrist-glad that the wounds on her arms had already healed. "You didn't do anything wrong Kos. I've done nothing but hurt people only to push them away."
"Is there anything that lies in your knowledge that can point me in the right direction to find a solution for the girl? I can't have her die, but I can't save her if I don't know what's happening. Unlike you, I haven't met too many people who would have that kind of knowledge."
Before she realized what she was doing she inhaled, breathing in his scent. Though the proximity of him sent her brain into overdrive. Grunting her eyes closed as she tried to think of something else. "...Find the boy. That's where I would start-he might be able to help." Gritting her teeth she felt them sharpen instantly in response to how close she was to his neck. Eyes widening her hands moved quickly. One gripped his shirt while her other hand moved to lay across his neck as sort of protection. "Kos..don't move." Eyes bright red she tried to calm down, focusing on the wall behind the couch. Shaking she tilted her head up as far away as she could manage. She still couldnt will her body to move away from him. The last thing she needed to do was the one thing that her instincts were screaming at her.

"You didn't do anything wrong Kos. I've done nothing but hurt people only to push them away."
The laugh was short and sharp. Mirthless. "That makes two of us."
"...Find the boy. That's where I would start-he might be able to help."
Kos's eyes closed again as he sighed, accepting the advice. It was something he had put off for quite some time, and he was trying to avoid it. He didn't know what was going through the Demon's head-- no one did. Not even his brother, as far as Kos knew. And if he could find the ever elusive Haven...maybe he could find him.
He felt the movement before it happened.
Crimson eyes snapped open, bright, almost glowing as he tensed, feeling Haven's breath brush his cheek as the hand whose wrist he still held gripped his shirt, pinned by the other that came across his neck. In instinct, small feathers had formed along the skin of his neck and around his jaw, blending with his hair in the shadowed apartment. The feathers appeared ruffled out of defense, all an instinctual thing when his more primal side rose to the surface. The man was as still as a statue, and several rapid heartbeats later, he eased the beating and the feathers lowered, some receding underneath his jacket.
Kos's gaze slid towards her, expression unreadable as his voice warbled in his throat, altered by his own sudden change. "How long have you fed off bags, Haven?" Based on the current situation, he assumed it had been quite some time. She was thinner than ever and hollow, and that only ever happens when one tried to change the diet.

Haven tensed, eyes flicking to him as his smell changed. Eyeballing the feathers her nose twitched as the colors in her eyes flickered between brown and red. Inhaling sharply she pulled back eyes closed. "I'm sorry Kos..just give me a moment."
"How long have you fed off bags, Haven?"
Tensing her hands slid back down to rest in her lap, as she adverted her gaze. She had never wanted him to know that she was loosing control more often. But she was never able to sneak anything past him. Sighing she pulled back to look at him. "I'm not proud of it. But its better than attacking someone."
