Everglade Wood is the small patch of forest off to the north side of town where it's always snowing and cold year-round. No one understands why, nor do many come around to satisfy their curiosity. Rumor has it that a boy had drowned years ago in the creek, and after the incident the wood froze over and the creek turned solid as the boy's spirit wanted to save others from meeting the same fate he had. However, no one knows the truth.

In a puff of air, Frost materialized along the trail, hands in his pockets as he kicked a frozen stone. His gray hat rested low over his brow. Here, his hair was no longer blonde, but was snow white, and his eyes bright and the color of the frozen water. However, despite the cold, the snow, the silence, there wasn't a stream of air near his lips and a shiver in his bones.
His gaze drifted up to the frozen trees and he let out a shaky breath, and a heartbeat later a frustrated shout escaped as he twisted around himself, fists jerking from his pockets and ice streaming from his palms to the sides of the path. Frost steadied himself and squeezed his eyes shut, pinching the bridge of his nose. He remained silent a moment before his hand dropped.
"What's the point," he laughed quietly, sadly, and shook his head, walking ahead. "I'm dead."

Cerria stared up at the break in the trees slowly. She like everyone else had heard about how Everglade Woods mysteriously remained a winter wonderland. Until she had met him, she hadn't known the cause. But now, she was probably the only one who knew the true reason behind it. "Though I suppose that there is some truth to the story." she says to herself before taking a step forward. She blinks as the scenery becomes thicker and brighter for her to see one rock from the other. Just how was she supposed to find a needle in a haystack? Spotting a side trail she turned in that direction, rubbing her arms lightly- now wishing that she had brought something warmer to wear. "Well it will be over soon." I really don't want to get lost in a frozen forest. Determined to get out soon, she trekked onward.

Stepping over to the edge of the stream, Frost stood and looked at his reflection off of the shining ice, the trees and the sky framing the image. His hands were in his pockets again, shoulders slouched, and eyes distant. Slowly he looked around, wondering why he had decided to stay here, here of all places, but then wondered why he could never sever the connection that kept him here, that kept him alive.
However, when a flash of color against the white caught his gaze, he turned rigid. She followed him? Cursing lowly, he vanished into a puff of air, only to reappear again in the branches of a nearby tree, using the thicken brambles and snow to hide himself.

Cerria continued to walk forward, an hand coming up to rest on her arm as she ventured further. Exhaling she looked up, cringing inwardly at the amount of breath that she saw. "Well at least it's still big." she murmured to herself. Feeling a small wind pick up she froze, curling in on herself a moment until it passed. Head bent low, blue eyes strayed up to the sky a moment allowing her to rest. Shaking her head she straightened before moving again, slower this time due to the reopened wound.

"Well at least it's still big."
Toiling with himself, Frost moved enough to peer through a crack in the white. His eyes soaked in Cerria's appearance, and he swore under his breath and turned around. The dummy. She's going to freeze. Disappearing in another puff of air, he moved to a small tent buried under the snow and pulled out a heavy jacket, disappearing and reappearing again several feet behind Cerria, hand in his pocket and the other holding out the jacket. However, he didn't look at her, but away and at the ground.
"Cerr-bear, take this. You'll freeze out here without it," he said quietly, his tone a failed attempt at chipper and his small smile broken.

Cerr-bear, take this. You'll freeze out here without it,"
Hearing a voice, his voice she stilled- a foot raised to take another step. Lowering it she turned to look at him. Despite the fact that she had never seen him like that, her face remained impassive. "So it's true. And what the Hell did you just call me?!" Fuming at the nickname she noticed his stance and she froze. It wasn't often- no she couldn't recall seeing him this down. Cheeks grew a deeper shade of red as she turned to the side. Whether it be the result of the cold, anger, or simply because she was embarrassed- she couldn't tell. Perhaps it was all of the above. Sighing she used her right hand to smooth down the left side of her hair, and turned to stare at him-tank top just as white as the scenery surrounding them. "What's wrong Frosty?"

"So it's true. And what the Hell did you just call me?!"
He only gave a half shrug, his head tilting with the movement. "Depends on what you heard." Frost's arm remained extended and himself remained still even as the breeze blew gently.
"What's wrong Frosty?"
His gaze never rose. "You know the moment when you realize that some things are just set in stone?" the smile remained, though weaker as he laughed gently, humorless. "I'm having one of those moments. It'll pass."

"Depends on what you heard."
Cerria snorted- she would let it go this time. Training her eyes on the jacket she took it from him, before slipping it on. "Thanks I guess."
"You know the moment when you realize that some things are just set in stone? I'm having one of those moments. It'll pass."
She watched him before she looked up at the sky. One of those moments huh? She didn't believe a word coming out of his mouth. Closing her eyes she tilted her head back a few seconds just standing there. "No it won't." Reopening her eyes she flicked her gaze to him. "I don't know what happened to you or what's going on, but I don't believe you. No- I know for a fact. You're better than this- don't act all mopey on me now. You're supposed to be the carefree happy guy while I..."she trailed off before looking away. Am the one who wishes for a release from this life. Groaning she turned away from him. She wasn't one for sympathy. "I know I don't act like it, most of the time I want to kill you. But... who else is going to keep me company?"

Slowly, Frost's gaze rose to hers, studying and flicking around her face as though he were trying to paint it into his memory. His hand lowered after she took the jacket, remaining out of it's pocket as he listened, though at the end the laugh came again. Quietly and with darkened humor, he murmured, "You can't kill something that's already dead."

"You can't kill something that's already dead."
Cerria's frowned as a shadow crossed over her face, brow furrowing in anger. "You're right-I can't. " she walked over to a tree and faced away from him. Subtlety gathering a handful of snow she balled it-chucking it at his face as hard as she could. Her hand rested mere inches from his nose. "But I can beat the crap out of SOMEONE." she hissed as she hit him again, this time with her hand. Another blow followed to his stomach. "Stop this pity party. You think you are the only one who has a shitty life?!" another blow landed palm open. "What good are you if you can't even be your cheerful self? " she hit him again, hit having less of an impact behind it due to her shoulders shaking. "I wish I could die, so don't you dare say that! You're still here aren't you?"

"You're right-I can't. "
At the snowball, he flinched, eyes closed a moment.
"But I can beat the crap out of SOMEONE. Stop this pity party. You think you are the only one who has a shitty life?!"
Frost grunted, body turning rigid and face shadowing, though he didn't move.
"What good are you if you can't even be your cheerful self? I wish I could die, so don't you dare say that! You're still here aren't you?"
Like something snapped or jerked free, Frost's arms found their way around Cerria, his face burring in her hair. His voice was thick, and inside he was fighting himself. "Don't say that," he murmured. "Don't ever say that. It's not a release. It's not freedom." His voice wavered. "You're left wondering what's left, and what you wish you had you can't have because the life isn't there anymore. So don't ever wish you were dead." He nearly choked on the last word. "Please, don't ever say that."

"Don't say that,Don't ever say that. It's not a release. It's not freedom."
Cerria tensed as she felt arms on her, instinctively lashing out with her fist again. "Let go of me. Let-"she continued to beat on his chest, body shaking more.
"You're left wondering what's left, and what you wish you had you can't have because the life isn't there anymore. So don't ever wish you were dead. Please, don't ever say that."
She bit her lip as she stood there rigid, but quit fighting to get away. "There's such a thing as too much freedom and ill never be Free from it. So many things that I have seen and nothing was worth putting effort towards. Days blur into weeks into years. The only thing that changes are the faces and styles. Except for you. You are always here, even though I don't want it. The only thing that would be left is you, but if you're not even going to be there to follow me home. Or to taunt me behind my back- or even patch me up after some bad meeting..." she paused, unaware that she was crying. She never realized how much she depended on him unconsciously.

"There's such a thing as too much freedom and ill never be Free from it."
"But a prison is no better," he whispered, embrace tightening slightly, forgetting about his chilled skin.
"So many things that I have seen and nothing was worth putting effort towards. Days blur into weeks into years. The only thing that changes are the faces and styles. Except for you. "You're wrong," Frost murmured, raising his head and resting his chin on the top of her head, gaze moving towards the trees. "Don't cry... Gods, don't cry. I can't handle the thought that I just made you cry." He gave a breathless laugh, a small smile touching his face. "I'm not going anywhere. I can't even if I wanted to."
He paused, taking a shaky breath. "If we're admitting things, it's my turn." Frost hesitated. "After meeting you, you made this death seem so full and man too small to handle it all. And even though I fight myself every day, thinking nothing can change, or will change, you make me believe I won't die anymore alone." He laughed again, though this one with emotion, voice thick and eyes squeezed closed. "You dismiss those fears."

"But a prison is no better,"
Cerria flinched as pressure was put on her wound, but she rested her head on his shoulder nonetheless.
"You're wrong,Don't cry... Gods, don't cry. I can't handle the thought that I just made you cry. "I'm not going anywhere. I can't even if I wanted to."
She managed a laugh, which came out more as a hiccup as she hugged him back. "You won't leave?"
"If we're admitting things, it's my turn. After meeting you, you made this death seem so full and man too small to handle it all. And even though I fight myself every day, thinking nothing can change, or will change, you make me believe I won't die anymore alone. You dismiss those fears."
Cerria looked up at him eyes wide and brimming with unknown emotion. Adverting her gaze she lets out a breath. "I dismiss those fears." echoes quickly. Never had someone said that to her- normally she was giving people fears and putting them in hell- not the other way around.
