He leans against the door frame, arms crossed. "We're of Finnish origins. Kind of like a guardian angel of sorts, but we're more Fae than we are heavenly." He pauses a moment. "Normally, we're given a person, a place or thing that we're meant to protect, and we devote our lives to do so. It's who we are."

"When we're first born we're given something to start, and once it's finished, we can choose," he explains a little better. "If one is given a person, then they may choose to protect the family after they've gone, and from there it keeps unfolding."

Rourke purses his lips. "The very first time, I was protecting a family, and it led down to a little boy about eighty years ago," he murmurs quietly, but doesn't go any further than that.
