Relaxing at the sight of his smile, Carter turns to look at the door at the knock, face twisting in confusion when it opens "What?.."
"It's unlocked."
Sensing Riad's presence, along with another, Ammiras pauses for a moment before he walks in at the sound of her friends voice, patting down his suit, still under the guise of a man "Riad. It's nice to see you again." she murmurs, lips twisting up in a small smile as he walks towards them

"Riad. It's nice to see you again."
Seeing her guise, Riad runs a hand over his face, now put in a rather awkward position when he already referred to her as she. He had completely forgotten that he was possibly the only one who knew. He takes a long breath, hand over his eyes a moment. "It's been a while, Ammiras," he says quietly, and hearing the footsteps, adds in almost a whisper, "Watch your step."

"Riad. It's nice to see you again."
"Umm... Who is this?.." Carter asks Riad, forcing a small smile to his face, gaze wavering, irises flashing bright blue
"It's been a while, Ammiras. Watch your step."
Stilling at Riad's words, Ammiras's eyes flick to the other man before realization crosses his face, gaze finding the demon once again "Apologies. I didn't know you had found another." he murmurs, voice growing wistful, eyes closing before he slowly reverts back to his original form. "What is it you need my help with?" she asks quietly

"Umm... Who is this?.."
"Apologies. I didn't know you had found another."
"You wouldn't have known-- it's been a while since we last talked," Riad replies, hand lowering.
"What is it you need my help with?"
Riad moves slowly, turning on his stool though he still doesn't stand, not trusting his balance enough to. Without looking, he gestures to Zlo. "I've a friend I need to lay to rest," he says quietly, "At least until I can recover enough to decide what to do with him. You know we don't turn to dust like everything else," he adds quietly.

Jolting when the man changes forms, Carter's eyes widen before he looks to Riad, gulping "Oh, is that her? Were you two?.."

"No," he answers Carter without missing a beat. "And it hasn't been long. Maybe twenty minutes." He rubs his forehead, keeping his gaze on the bar counter in front of him.

"If you are asking if I am the undertaker, and if we were together in the biblical sense, then. Yes." Ammiras murmurs as soon as Riad speaks, sighing at his answer before she focuses on Zlo "You want me to lay him where all others go?"
"No."

"Oh... I see." Carter replies, voice barely audible before he swallows, laughing for a moment, hand running through his hair, eyes closing "I'm going outside to catch some air. You two talk, and Riad? Come find me when you're done?" he asks, pursing his lips as he turns and walks out, door shutting quietly behind him

"Oh... I see. I'm going outside to catch some air. You two talk, and Riad? Come find me when you're done?"
Riad looks at him, uncertain a moment, though he nods and offers a small smile. "Yeah, I'll come get you." As Carter leaves his smile fades with him, and he rests his forehead on his hand again. "Yes, for now." His eyes move again to the glass of rum in front of him, and for a moment he looks as though he'll grab it, but he remains still.

"Yeah, I'll come get you."
Eyes closing at the statement, Carter's face shadows before he thinks of his aunt and disappears, visiting her grave, and his home
"Yes, for now."
"Very well." Ammiras stands, sighing softly as she clicks her tongue again, looking towards the door "Dumond, come." she murmurs, watching as the wolf from before passes through the solid wall with ease then kneels by Zlo so she can place him on his back "You know where to go." running a hand over his head, she smiles slightly when he lets out a soft bark then takes off running, watches him disappear then turns to Riad, pale emerald eyes finding his red "Do you detest me that much?"

"Very well. Dumond, come. You know where to go. Do you detest me that much?"
"What?" he looks at her, the question taking a moment to sink in as he watches the wolf disappear with Zlo before he shakes his head. "No, I don't, Ammi," he says quietly, rubbing his face again, struggling. "You know I don't have the bone in me to hate." Though his eyes found the floor and he takes a breath. For a moment, the weight he feels and the massive amount of emotion he had been trying to hide shows a little on his face and in his gaze, little lavender flecks moving among the crimson.

Ammiras murmurs, walking over to stand my him, eyes studying his face "But now you are not the same man, you are him." tilting her head, her form shifts to Lucifer than back "And he was filled with hate. I'm surprised you're lasting as long as you have against him, a gently soul like you." leaning in, she studies his irises, her green ones turning to a vivid blue, looks like Carter to a T as she pulls back "But perhaps he's part of the reason you haven't given in?"

Riad's jaw ticks just a little, seeing Lucifer's image copied to perfection.
"And he was filled with hate. I'm surprised you're lasting as long as you have against him, a gently soul like you. But perhaps he's part of the reason you haven't given in?"
For a moment he only studies her, then presses his lips into a thin line as he looks away. "He is the reason," he replies after a moment. "Him, and everyone else. A side wants to give in to that hate, illogically trying to drive me to hate Carter, but I know he's not at fault for any of this. And nor is Zlo. It's all on Lucifer's hands, and mine, and that leads to self hate." He pauses, eyes finding the old picture of all of them on the wall. "But if I give in to that hate, then it goes against everything I've built, everything I've lived for, the values that I've kept and showed others." He looks back at her, almost looking older. "We're supposed to be creatures of more than just hate, greed, lust. And if I turn my back and give in, it makes me no different than the ones I've been trying to help this whole time." He pauses again, and a small silent laugh passes his lips. "Or maybe I've been no different this whole time."

Mouth twisting up in a small half smile, she shakes her head at his last statement "You have always been different. That's why I like you so much, why I asked you to join my family, be one of my own. You're the only one that has refused me repeatedly."

Riad reaches up and rubs at a sharp throb in his temple, closing an eye. "maybe it'll be my downfall," he adds quietly, mirth fading.
