His gaze snapped to her. "Why else would I had turned to them in the first place? Before, I didn't touch the damn things unless someone slipped them into my drink. No, before, my poison was alcohol. After you, I couldn't get your face out of my head, that bloody look you gave me that seared into the pin pricked nerves of mine. I may have no actually seen you, but I saw you. And it drove me up the damn wall. So to forget, I started 'em, and king almighty took pity and gave me the supply, which drove me further because there's nothing more I hate than pity."

Elias glared at her sharply, murmuring, "Just as you were protecting someone, I was doing the same, the only way I knew how." With that, he shoved past Riad and stalked out, passing Shade and Eva and stepped out the back door into the alley, needing air. He took a deep breath, letting his head fall back and his eyes closed. Why did he always snap when his flaws were pin pointed? Or why he had to be so bitter?
He growled at himself. "I hope that at least fixed your damn problem, brother."
Riad turned as Elias went out, going to call him back and scold him, but felt it better to leave him be, and instead took a heavy sigh, shoulders falling a little. "I'm sorry about his attitude. He's always been bitter since Nova's disappearance, and worsened after Dad...." He looked back at Rima, eyes studying.

Staying silent, Rima remains still until Riad speaks to her, eyes finding him as she steps closer "It's quite alright, no need to apologize." she murmurs, leans in, lips brushing his ear, gaze trained on the wall "I need you to tell Carter something." she states softly before telling him her message, voice low
