"I'm not sure." Ace's gaze remains on the outside, distracted, though when he feels someone close he turns his head, starting just a little at the kiss, unexpecting it.
"Wait!.."
The man stops and turns, finding the source of the voice before his eyes fall on Marisole, and he immediately recognizes her as Spade's pet. He smiles warmly, though his eyes held a little confusion. "Yes, miss?"

"Are you... Are you Auguste?" Marisole whispers, eyes wavering as she takes a small step towards him

His mouth works a moment, speechless as he studies her, then he swallows. "That was unfair," he murmurs. "I was on the look out for someone," his eyes move to where Marisole once stood and he frowns a little, "and..." His face twists as he loses his train of thought.
"Are you... Are you Auguste?"
He faces her fully with a nod. "Indeed I am."

He studies her a moment, ears reddened but he laughs lightly a moment later, unsure of what to do. "Am I being put in the middle of a feud?"
"Do you... Um.. I..."
He tilts his head, though his smile brightens a little more, the confusion gone. "Don't try to push the words out-- they'll come naturally in a moment."

Ace watches her a moment, offering a smile, though he doesn't know what to say about that. "Break a leg out there-- If I get the chance I'll try to catch the end."

Auguste studies her a moment, then extends his hand to her. "You know who you are, do you not? No one knows you as well as yourself."

He watches her go, then shakes his head in disbelief and turns away, starting out of the tent, though he stops as he hears voices.
"I meant... I don't remember anything about my childhood, who my parents are.."
His look is gentle as he takes her hand, willing to find the answer for her. "I met a girl who was in your same position, miss Marisole," he starts, searching her face as he does memories, even ones that could be hidden. "She knew nothing of her past, but once she regained lost memories, she's been put in danger." After a moment his willingness to tell her leaves but his smile remains. "You'll learn for yourself in time-- when it's right." He releases her hand, then looks towards the entrance of the tent. "I know you're there, young Ace. I didn't hurt your friend."
Ace steps out, though hesitant. "I wouldn't believe a man of your stature could hurt someone, sir," he murmurs, suddenly formal.

"You did?.. But... I..." Gaze wavering when he reveals nothing, Marisole swallows and steps back when Ace appears, trembling before she turns and runs, finding a abandoned corner of the tent. Sinking down, she pulls her knees up to her chest, burying her face in them

"You did?.. But... I..."
As she runs off, something crosses Auguste's gaze as Ace whirls around, reaching out. "Marisole, wait!" the knight calls, but the older man's hand found his arm to keep him there a moment.
"There's something I must ask of you, Ace," he starts, meeting his gaze as he whirls around, trying to pull free.
"Remove your hand, sir," he says lowly, but Auguste makes no move to do so.
"Do you know anything about a young man named Finnik Wise?"
Ace stiffens at the name, eyes slightly widened before he grits his teeth and tears himself away. "No," he murmurs, then hurries to where Marisole ran.
Auguste stands the a moment, watching after him with pursed lips, then he turns and starts back towards home again. He has everything he needs to know.

Hands covering her ears as Ace's voice echoes over and over in her head, she curls into herself more at the sound of footsteps, praying the shadows hide her from whoever's coming

Struggling to find her, his gaze searches around, worried. "What did he do..." He murmurs, then says to Marisole, "Please, come out. I..." he pauses and sighs, shoulders dropping a little as he realizes when he called out the first time could have startled her. "I'm sorry."

Eyes opening at the sound of Ace's voice, her gaze wavers before she slowly climbs out of the shadows on all fours, unable to look at him "Here, sir.."

Ace turns and sees her, letting out a relieved sigh as he steps over and offers a hand to her. "You startled me-- I wasn't sure where you had gone. Are you okay?"
