Something flickered across his gaze, but he didn't say anything.
Catching the look, Shade tilts her head but says nothing, looking over as Carter walks out
"If Riad is still the boy I remember, he didn't leave you for no reason."
"He's going after Elias. In all the years I've known him, he wouldn't leave the side of anyone he cared about unless it was to take care of a threat against them. That's when you'll see the storm. There was one time I was on the receiving end of that storm. It can be an elegant kind of rage, or just straight up fury without the eye of the storm."
"Elias. His brother?" Carter murmurs, blue eyes flicking to Zlo as he speaks, gaze half cold half distant until his second statement reaches his ears, small confused look "Take care of a threat against them? What threat do I have?"
"Just like his mother..."
Head tilting towards Dozorce, her irises flash green, eyebrow raising at the barely audible comment

"Elias. His brother?Take care of a threat against them? What threat do I have?"
Zlo sighed deeply, shaking his head slightly. "Whatever threat he sees. I can almost guess he's afraid that whoever ordered the hit against your aunt," as a side statement, he added, more of a whisper and an knowing tone, the first glimpse into his past, "which you have my condolences for," he straightened and continued, "he's afraid they may order one on you, which brings him to the conclusion that they may use Elias to carry it out."
Dozorce thought for a moment. "Lucifer is the only name I have for the hits, though I'm sure others are involved."

"Thanks. I guess." Carter murmurs with a sigh at the condolences, runs his hand through his hair "Order a hit on me?" eyes closing, he exhales before he turns and starts walking down the road from the bar, hands in his pockets

Dozorce takes a heavy breath and looks towards Carter. "Kid, wait. We need your help."
Zlo gives him an incredulous look, confused. He opened his mouth to say something, but Dozorce stopped him.

"Home. Hit on me or not, I want to go home." Carter replies to her before stilling at Dozorce's words, slowly turns his head to look at him, blue eyes going in and out of focus "With what?"

He looked at him. "Riad is going to need a grounding if things get out of hand. Most of our kind need it, especially when they're still young." Dozorce paused, studying Carter's features. "I know everything is a lot to take in, but if rumors about the fight between them are true, he's going to need it."
Zlo hesitantly nodded, touching his side. "Yeah, it'd be better than trying to stop them by force. If they fight at all. Riad may be a softie since it's his brother."

Eyes catching everything, Shade's eyes flick to Zlo before she silently moves next to him, arm wrapping around his waist

Dozorce rubbed his neck. "If you don't want to stay, then at least be nearby when we need to bring him back down and remember what humanity he has."
Zlo welcomed Shade's gesture, hand resting over hers as his jaw worked.
But.. I have a favor to ask of you two as well.
"Anything," Zorzor responded. "I've caused enough trouble, I can at least repay you for it."

Nodding slightly at his words, Carter inhales slowly before meeting Zorzor's gaze with ease "Here's my proposition. I will stay with Riad, whether it be as a friend or more, not because you asked, but because I want to. And in return, I want one of two answers. Either from talking to the man who killed my aunt, or from you and him." he murmurs, glancing at Zlo "And if you choose the latter, here's my question for you. How do I become like your son." he states, voice serious
Eyes sharpening, Shade's eyes flick to the boys face at his words, tensing "You want to become a demon? Are you mad? Do you even realize what you're asking for?" she asks, voice slightly elevated but still calm
"I don't, you're right. But I do know that until I met him, I was ready to say fuck it and give up on life. I was drinking myself into oblivion, I wasn't eating, wasn't sleeping because of the nightmares. Do you know what it's like to see that night over and over again, like a movie, whenever I close my eyes?" he snaps, losing it for a moment, looks at her "He's a demon, and I'm human. There can't be a way for that to work, not for long."

I did what you want to do in the beginning to save someone I love, and if I had the chance to make that choice again, I would have chosen differently." With that, he followed after Shade, leaving Dozorce behind.
Dozorce had been studying Carter for some time. "Your question is not a light one, nor will it cure any demons haunting you inside. I can't say yes or no to that. If you were to ask anyone, it would have to be Riad himself. As for the other question, that's if we can find him."

Their voices fading among the ringing in her ears, she walks in the bar, door slamming after her, turns the open sign to closed. Walking over to the stereo systems, she cranks up the volume, flipping switches. When a soft bass beat starts up, she gets up on the bar and starts dancing, eyes closing as she tries to lose herself in the song, hips swaying, annoyed

Dozorce hesitated, but nodded. "Let's see if we can't find Riad, then." He turned and began to walk away, trying to gauge where Riad may be.

Zlo released a small puff of air, a soundless chuckle, as he shook his head. "Ri's gonna kill you for dancing on his bar." However, he moved and hopped up onto the wood, a hand snaking around her waist as he kissed her forehead. "But I won't let you have all the fun."
